Day Nine with my Tablet PC... Jury Duty
Oh thank heavens for Zinio Reader! It made my day of Jury Duty so much easier. I never realized how much time we spend waiting in order for justice to be done. While waiting, with about 500 other people, I was able to read a magazine on my Tablet. It was the PC Magazine special edition that covers the Tablet PC and all the special features, so I was able to learn more and “kill time” without invading other people and their space. It was nice to have an operating computer in such a small area. Portfolio view was definitely the way to use my computer in this setting! I will be ordering more magazines from Zinio in the future to read. This was really nice and the Zinio Reader is a free download—all you do is pay for your magazine subscription.
After reading my magazine, and driving 20 miles to the other court house they sent 45 of us lucky people to, I was then able to relax, open my Tablet and work on lesson plans for the next couple of hours. I don’t think I would have used my laptop in this setting as it is heavier and the battery life is not as good. I was able to impress several of my fellow jurors with how compact my computer is. When they saw Windows Journal and how I was just writing in my normal handwriting they all wanted one. We had fun thinking of various ways to use it—from writing a diary to letting a child draw to surfing the net at school and reading books when we have a spare moment.
When my day of duty was over (I was not put on a panel) I quickly put my Tablet away and headed home. It is so compact that I just carried it and didn’t even use a case—that is something I would not do with my laptop.
Now that I’m home I need to get ready for Christmas. I’m not sure how much I’ll use my Tablet during my vacation but I still need to use it with PowerPoint and Excel. So until next time--have a wonderful holiday everyone.
